Reflections on My Year with Medium: Insights and Experiences

Chapter 1: Discovering Medium
Initially, when I first encountered Medium, I mistakenly associated it with psychics and dismissed it without a second thought. It wasn't until much later, when friends on Facebook began comparing my writing to the content on Medium, that I took notice.
I didn’t conduct extensive research before joining. Instead, I impulsively signed up and quickly embarked on the journey to gather one hundred followers to join the partner program. Fortunately, that requirement has since been removed, allowing more writers to earn from their work.
Over the past year, I have gained invaluable insights and witnessed some remarkable transformations.
This experience has significantly improved my understanding of formatting, including the importance of adding alternative text to images and crafting engaging titles.
Publications can serve as great allies in your Medium journey. If you're looking to elevate your visibility, I highly recommend submitting to the publications listed in this article.
For those unsure about the publication process, you can refer to this guide on how to publish effectively.
There are various opinions regarding the use of images in articles. One publication I submitted to advised including only a single image, while others suggest incorporating a photo every 4 to 6 paragraphs to enhance readability.
Chapter 2: My Writing Journey on Medium
After a year on the platform, I've authored nearly a thousand articles and attracted over 1,700 followers. I attribute this growth to my consistency, receiving a few boosts, and engaging with my audience.
My overall impression of Medium after one year is that it fosters a close-knit community that many cherish. There’s a willingness among users to support one another, with some even willing to pay more to contribute positively to the platform. I might join that group in a few months when my budget allows.
I want to express my gratitude to all the readers who connect with my work, maintain communication, and strive to engage in reciprocal interactions.
Special thanks to Patty Feyh, Adrian CDTPPW, Jill Eng, and William Michael Williamson for their support and encouragement.
