My unhappiness led to emotional eating habits. Meals became quick pit stops to refuel rather than moments of enjoyment. My diet was poor; I ate whatever was convenient just to keep going, often missing out on sports and social life. I lost touch with family and friends, even postponing my wedding to focus on work. Living in a beautiful Mediterranean city, I couldn't appreciate my surroundings due to my relentless work schedule.

I realized I had to make a choice: Would I work to live, or live to work? This unhealthy cycle couldn't continue. The weight I gained was clear evidence that I needed to change my path.

Here’s how I decided to turn my life around:

Dinner consisted of a simple salad with olive oil and lean protein—no late-night snacks were allowed.
  2. Increase Physical Activity: Reducing food intake was only part of the solution. I committed to drinking 2–2.5 liters of water daily and incorporated a 30-minute walk after lunch. I also began exercising three times a week and took advantage of living by the sea to swim on weekends.
  3. Mental Preparation: Establishing a strong mental foundation was crucial. I focused on work-life balance, gradually leaving work by 7 pm to reclaim my evenings for relaxation and socializing. Daily affirmations kept me motivated, especially as my wedding approached.
  4. Monitor Progress: I weighed myself every morning under consistent conditions to track my progress accurately. I engaged friends and family in a friendly competition to keep each other accountable.
  5. Be Flexible: I shared my goals with loved ones who held me accountable. They encouraged me to stick to my plan, especially at mealtimes.
  6. Celebrate Wins: I allowed myself to indulge a bit on Sundays as a reward for staying on track throughout the week.
