This led me to ponder the possibility of developing a Chrome extension myself. Despite lacking experience in Chrome extension development, I reassured myself, “I have ChatGPT to help me through this process.”

I embarked on my project by asking ChatGPT to take on the role of a seasoned software engineer and outline the requirements for my desired Chrome extension. I aimed to provide detailed specifications, understanding that shifting requirements can complicate development. To my delight, ChatGPT managed to accommodate changes without any issues, which I would soon find invaluable.

With the requirements established, ChatGPT offered a thorough tutorial on creating file structures, drafting the base code, and conducting tests. Thanks to its guidance, I was able to prepare my code within minutes. Without ChatGPT, this project would have likely taken me an entire workday, if not longer. The AI’s support streamlined the development process, enabling me to complete the task with remarkable ease.

ChatGPT’s initial suggestions covered around 80% of my project. After testing, I identified areas needing improvement and consulted ChatGPT for refining the code. With its assistance, I significantly enhanced my development skills and produced a higher-quality product. The power of AI enabled me to accomplish more in less time, and I appreciated the collaborative nature of working with ChatGPT.

One of the many advantages of collaborating with ChatGPT is its ability to simplify debugging. Much of my time during the development phase was dedicated to debugging and optimizing the code, roughly 80%. Once everything seemed solid, I decided to launch version 1.0 of my Chrome extension. However, I was unsure about the steps for publishing it on the Chrome Web Store. ChatGPT once again proved invaluable, providing detailed guidance on navigating the release process, ensuring my extension was successfully published and accessible to users.
