From ADHD to Achievement: Jason's Journey to Success

Chapter 1: The Path to Graduation
In just a month, Jason will complete high school, attending regular classes without medication and achieving A's instead of F's. While we still have challenges ahead, the way forward for him appears promising.
Following his graduation, we plan to give him a month to relax, after which we will begin guiding him in establishing a business. This venture may focus on coaching others with ADHD or assisting parents of children with ADHD, especially if they find his achievements inspiring. To facilitate this, we will need to develop a book that details the journey we've taken together.
Thus, I’ll be assisting him in this process. I need to sift through thousands of conversations and reflections to identify the few key insights that accounted for most of our success. Please bear with me as I delve into my thoughts to extract the essentials.
Jason will have his own ideas about what was most effective, but since he is still figuring things out, he might find it challenging to see the bigger picture. The book will ultimately bear his name, but I aim to provide him with a clear set of principles that reflect my perspective: what I felt, thought, and did—allowing him to choose what resonates with him for the book.
Let’s start by examining the core objective. The goal of his future business is to enable him to support himself. This assumes he desires the same fundamental things as any individual, notably: survival. This primal instinct is a universal drive across cultures and history. An underlying principle here is the need to avoid pain and seek pleasure. Regardless of their circumstances, when faced with life-threatening situations, people instinctively fight for survival. This reflects our inherent animal nature, and those who understand it can tap into this fundamental aspect of human consciousness.
If I accept this premise, I establish a secure foundation. To help Jason support himself and provide for his needs, I must appeal to his intrinsic motivations.
Section 1.1: Instincts and Drives
Sexual attraction is another significant drive. He comes from a long lineage of humans and animals that have evolved with these instincts. It’s reasonable to assume he shares these drives, even if he chooses not to have children. I would posit that a vast majority of healthy individuals desire sexual relationships. Even before he consciously seeks romantic connections, I can recognize this drive in him.
To attract healthy partners, he must be in good health and self-sufficient. It’s known that owning a home is one of the most attractive qualities for men seeking relationships, as it signifies the ability to create and protect a living space. Even before puberty, Jason displayed an interest in girls—similar to my own experiences as a young man.
Subsection 1.1.1: The Importance of Independence
Power, in this context, refers to the capability to effect change and achieve goals. This encompasses the basic needs of survival, avoiding discomfort, seeking pleasure, and establishing a safe living environment to attract suitable partners. It’s likely that he will seek someone who embodies the qualities he admires in his mother, while also aspiring to emulate the traits of his father.
Independence is crucial; I want him to thrive without relying on me or his mother. While we hope he values our relationships, the goal is for him to become self-sufficient. The easiest way to measure this is through financial stability. If you doubt that financial security is a significant factor in how individuals are perceived, you may not be attuned to societal norms.
Section 1.2: The Foundation of Existence
In summary, these three fundamental aspects—survival, joy, and independence—form the basis of human existence. My guiding principles have always centered around the desire for respect from those I admire and attraction to those I desire. If I maintain my health, I will naturally gravitate towards individuals who are similarly healthy.
This exploration of our primal instincts connects deeply with life's essence and the core realities of our existence. A person who is physically, emotionally, and financially healthy lays a solid foundation for a fulfilling life, fostering empathy, self-expression, and spiritual growth.
As I reflect on these vital insights, they clarify the desired outcomes for Jason's future. When he was born, I held him high, making a promise to guide him safely to adulthood.
With this goal in mind, the next question arises: "How can we achieve this?"
