Finding Harmony in Life Through Acts of Kindness

The Importance of Generosity
A tale often shared is that of an elderly man who made his living selling eggs. One day, a woman approached him and asked, "What do you charge for your eggs?"
"Twenty cents each, ma'am," he replied with a smile.
The woman, however, retorted, "I can get six eggs for a dollar elsewhere. If you can't match that price, I'll take my business elsewhere."
The old man, feeling the weight of the day, responded, "Feel free to pay whatever you wish. Perhaps this is a good start, as I haven't sold a single egg today."
The woman took her eggs and felt a sense of victory. Later, she drove her luxury car to a high-end restaurant, where she and her friends ordered lavishly. When the bill arrived, totaling $95.50, she generously tipped with a $100 bill, instructing the owner to keep the change.
This scenario may resonate with restaurant owners accustomed to generous tips from affluent patrons, but it starkly contrasts with the plight of the elderly egg vendor.
The underlying question remains: Why do some feel the need to dominate those who are less fortunate? And why do we often extend generosity to those who already have plenty?
Wealthy individuals sometimes flaunt their financial status in front of those who serve them, using their wealth as a means to impress their peers. Yet, when they encounter those in need—like the old egg seller—they tend to be less generous.
This disparity creates an imbalance in our society, as wealth and poverty coexist. While the less fortunate, like the egg vendor, approach life with open hearts and a desire to earn a living, those with wealth may lack empathy, often neglecting to lend a helping hand.
It's essential to clarify that not all affluent individuals behave this way; this observation pertains to a minority I have encountered.
Ultimately, if you possess resources, consider sharing them with others. Doing so not only enriches the lives of those in need but also brings a deeper sense of purpose and joy to your own life.
"To live is to give"—by giving, you receive joy in return.
