Writing for Serious Philosophy: Engaging with Ideas and Voices
Written on
Chapter 1: Mission of Serious Philosophy
At Serious Philosophy, our goal is to reach a diverse audience. We strive to create works that not only advance philosophical discourse along both analytical and continental lines but also offer a pathway for those not deeply entrenched in the field to start exploring philosophical methods.
We plan to read literature collectively and produce essays that respond to these readings, fostering dialogue among participants. We will examine how philosophical principles manifest in the real world and categorize each of these activities on dedicated pages, ensuring that newcomers can easily navigate our offerings. Additionally, our main journal will focus on publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed philosophical research.
Given our limited budget, most of our efforts will take place behind the scenes, relying on the voluntary contributions of our team. However, we are committed to enabling anyone interested to contribute in some capacity. Whether it’s submitting a letter to the editor sharing insights from your readings or critiquing their relevance, we believe that platforms like Medium allow for a diverse array of voices to be amplified, and we are determined to harness this potential.
