Connecting with Experienced Writers on Medium: A Call to Action

Chapter 1: The Quest for Wisdom
To discover the oldest and most seasoned writers on Medium, the simplest approach is to compose an article inviting assistance from fellow members. My goal is to ascertain if I qualify as one of the more mature writers on this platform. At the conclusion of my brief piece, I have a straightforward request: to connect with other writers on Medium who are fifty and above.
A staggering 98.4% of the content on Medium seems to focus on financial gain. The demographic here skews younger, often averaging around thirty-seven years old. My intention with this article is to initiate a shift in the content and headlines we encounter on Medium, fostering awareness and encouraging more of my contemporaries to participate.
Writing brings me a sense of richness that transcends monetary rewards, a sentiment likely shared by many members of this community. After all, we are a network that supports one another.
If the act of writing helps maintain our youthful spirit, let’s explore how we can draw in more writers who have traversed the paths we aspire to navigate in business and life. There is much wisdom to glean from those who have walked the road before us.

Section 1.1: Understanding Life's Three Phases
This may suggest that the majority of writers on Medium are currently in the initial two phases of life: learning and earning.
- The first phase is learning.
- The second phase is earning.
- The third phase is serving and contributing.
I long to read the works of older, wiser individuals who reflect on the essence of life rather than just the pursuit of wealth. I yearn for more discussions around the profound aspects of business and life, including our struggles, failures, and the journey toward redemption.
While I don’t dismiss the value of the numerous quality articles here, it’s clear that the predominant focus is on acquiring knowledge and increasing income. That’s perfectly fine, but this perspective can become monotonous after decades of experience.

Subsection 1.1.1: Evolving Priorities with Age
After some time, the relentless chase for money can feel tedious—unless you’re a character like Gordon Gekko. We have so much to learn from the elders who share their stories through writing, teaching, coaching, and volunteering. I, too, continue to learn daily, and the insights gained from those ahead of me are invaluable.
Once you’ve lived over forty, fifty, or sixty years, you’ve likely amassed enough knowledge to write, teach, coach, volunteer, and even take leisurely naps without a reason. Even if the pursuit of learning and financial gain remains strong, priorities often evolve toward giving and serving others as one ages.
For many older individuals, including myself, there’s a wealth of potential to contribute more on Medium. That’s why I am actively seeking out older writers here. I also plan to invite more peers in my age group to join, as I know numerous Baby Boomers who are unfamiliar with this platform.
My request is straightforward: if you’re aware of any writers or members aged 50 and above, let’s collaborate to connect with more elders on Medium.
